A long poem by William Shakespeare
Performed by Sir Mark Rylance and Dame Kristin Scott Thomas
A special fundraiser for the Marylebone Theatre
In the early 1990s, Mark Rylance was a month away from performing Venus and Adonis when the production had to be cancelled. Now, thirty years later, he will deliver Shakespeare’s masterful long poem in partnership with his long-time friend and colleague, Derek Jacobi.
Over an illustrious, forty year career, Mark Rylance has won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Bridge of Spies, played the BFG in Spielberg’s film and won countless awards for other memorable, screen roles. His stage performances are reckoned amongst the greatest ever seen in Britain. Kristin Scott Thomas shot to fame with her roles in Four Weddings And A Funeral and The English Patient and since then has established herself as one of Britain's most beloved actresses of both stage and screen.
Join two of Britain’s greatest actors as they bring to life Shakespeare’s ravishing, rarely-performed text, rich with wit and beauty. All profits from the event will go to support the Marylebone Theatre.
Previously this event was announced to include Sir Derek Jacobi. Sadly, due to scheduling circumstances, Derek has had to pull out. We are delighted that Kristin has kindly stepped in to replace him.
