Quip Shed Comedy is delighted to continue to host monthly stand-up comedy shows at the Marylebone Theatre!
The next show on Friday 19th May presents an incredible roster of the best and biggest comedians on the UK circuit, including TV's Lily Phillips, Josh Weller, Michael Odewale, and Iain Stirling! The night will be hosted by Lyle Barke.
Lily Phillips is one of the most exciting up and coming voices in comedy in the UK. She is BBC New Comedy Award Finalist 2021, Runner Up at the 2019 Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year, Funny Women Finalist 2018, and was a part of prestigious Pleasance Comedy Reserve at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She is a series regular on The Stand Up Sketch Show, and other TV credits include Period Dramas (BBC3), The Joy Of Missing Out (All4), The Fake Podcast show (E4) and Comedy Central Live.
Josh Weller has a high energy brand of cleverly self-deprecating stand-up which landed him on pro bills after just one year on the circuit. In addition to his live comedy work, Josh has developed a loyal fanbase for his online content, which includes sketches, live pub quizzes, professional trolling, animated stand-up comedy shorts, character work, and more. In 2020, he was included in Twitter’s Valentine’s Campaign, featured on billboards across the US and UK.
Josh recently appeared in episodes of BBC’s Life Lessons with Alfie Brown and ITV2's The Stand Up Sketch Show, and his darkly comic graphic novel, 'Die Already', was published by CollegeHumor.
Michael Odewale is taking the comedy world by storm. His debut show '#BlackBearsMatter' won Best Show at both the 2019 Leicester and Hastings Comedy Festivals and achieved critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe 2019, earning him a nomination for Best Newcomer in the Dave Edinburgh Comedy Awards. In fact, his show was recently filmed for an Amazon Prime special!
His most recent TV credits include BBC Presents: Stand Up For Live Comedy, Mock The Week, The Mash Report, Chris Ramsey’s Stand Up Central, The Stand Up Sketch Show, and Comedians Solve World Problems. As a writer, he has worked with Charlie Brooker on Attack of the Hollywood Cliches and Death to 2020, both for Netflix.
Our headliner, BAFTA-winning comedian, Iain Stirling, is best known as the brilliantly funny voice of the hit reality show Love Island, which is now in its ninth series. Following his success on Love Island, Iain appeared in series 8 of Taskmaster, and took on the role of host for ITV2’s comedy entertainment show, CelebAbility (now in its fifth series). His sitcom, Buffering, a brand new comedy written, created by and starring Iain debuted on ITV2 in 2021.
Iain’s book 'Not Ready to Adult Yet' was published through HarperCollins, along with a companion podcast of the same name. 2022 saw Iain’s debut stand-up special Failing Upwards released on Amazon Prime. Recorded at the iconic Alexandra Palace Theatre in London, the special explores topics including Iain’s inability to function in the most basic of public settings, the pressures of being in the public eye and that one time a man stole his shoes.
Please note that, although very rarely, the line-up is subject to change.
This event is for those over the age of 18.
