Creative Spirit is a new body of work by multidisciplinary artist, Anniek Verholt, exhibited at Marylebone Theatre Gallery. The multi-layered abstract oil paintings in this exhibition represent the theatre's creative life and spirit. Leading up to the launch, the artist spent time at rehearsals, classes and other creative events taking place in the theatre. The resulting paintings are informed by research and discussions about 'the meaning and experience of creativity' with actors and other creative minds at the venue.
Anniek Verholt (BA, MA) is a contemporary artist working within the intersections of art, psychology and neuroesthetics. Originally from the Netherlands, she is based inBrighton and London. For Anniek the arts represent an ongoing enquiry into our human nature. She is particularly interested in the relationship between the artwork and its beholder - the interaction between the viewer and the artwork - as well as creating a meaningful narrative around her art. Her artworks are part of several private collections and exhibited internationally including London, Hong Kong and Athens.
